Pierce Rukrigl is a 2007 LHP with a 5'9'', 145 lb. frame from Miami FL, who attends Miami Palmetto HS. He has a small, slender build. Rukrigl throws from a high energy, quick delivery that doesn't give the hitter a good look at the ball and provides plenty of deception. Rukrigl's normal release point is low 3/4's but he'll drop even lower on some pitches. He has good arm quickness and looseness. Rukrigl's fastball was 79-81 mph with some late explosive life into left handed hitters. His 65 mph curveball has late biting action and a wide sweeping break. He has also showed some deceptiveness and sink on a 67 mph change up. Rukrigl also did a good job of keeping the ball low, which added to his deception. He doesn't look like a comfortable at bat for a hitter, especially for a left handed hitter and could become even more so if he adds some strength and velocity to his pitches. Rukrigl is also an outstanding student.
