2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Brian Daniel is not a big or overly swift outfielder, but he showed good actions in the field and a projectable bat with a nice swing. He was a consistent hitter that used a swing best suited for his game which was short and effective. The swing was quick and level and got the ball in play consistently. He displayed athleticism in the field and on the bases but ran just a 7.78 in the 60. He moved well down the line and showed a disciplined approach at the plate. He should be able to handle aluminum much better than wood but made the adjustments with wood and wound up being one of the better looking contact hitters for the weekend. We would bet that he does not strike out much and has a good upside as he gets stronger. He also pitched topping out around 80 mph. Brian is very strong academically.
