John Magness is a 2015 C/3B, 1B with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Redlands, CA who attends Arrowhead Christian Academy. Large frame, thick sturdy catcher's build, good present strength. Switch hitter with ability to drive the ball from either side of the plate. Bit more natural from the left side but legitimate switch hitting abillity. Big leverage from the left side with a big uppercut, good lower half use to create pullside power. Less uppercut from the right side, more of a contact approach though still has the strength at contact to drive the ball for extra bases from that side as well. Strong arm behind the plate, accurate throws with good footwork. Excellent student. Named to the Sunshine West Top Prospect Team.
