2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Mazzocco is a right-hander from San Antonio with pitching ability and hitting ability too. He showed three pitches that work well for him because they look similar coming out of his hand. His fastball was clocked at 80-82 mph and his off-speed pitches were both in the 68-70 mph range. The curve was a good one with a good break and his change-up was also 68-70 with good looking arm action. If he threw his pitches in the right spot he got outs easily. He also got in the batters box and showed a good sharp single to centerfield on a low and away pitch that he went with. Looks like he's got some power potential. Brandon is a good student.
