Carl Edzel Ortega is a 2015 OF/RHP with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Wayne, NJ who attends Wayne Hills. Large, strong frame with an athletic build. Gets good reads on balls in the outfield, with a good first step. Moves feet well and works through the ball. Developing arm strength with carry on throws. Right handed pitcher who throws from a high three quarter arm slot and gets occasional cutting action on fastball which topped at 75 mph. Feel for curveball which he keeps low in zone and flashes 11/5 break. Bats from right side with a wide base, high hand set, and a leg lift trigger. Middle of field approach. Good bat speed with strength in swing and short path to ball. Barrels up ball to all fields. Named to Top Prospect Team. Good student.
