Jake Ortega is a 2015 C/SS, RHP with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Mission Viejo, CA who attends Capistrano Valley. Medium frame, thin build with room to fill. Strong arm behind the plate, quick feet, moves well defensively, good catch and throw mechanics. Online throws, short arm action, quick arm, good carry. Arm plays well in the infield as well, quick fet and release time, moves well. Leg kick trigger, moving parts to swing, good bat speed, good raw power, smashed first pitch of BP to warning track at spacious Southwestern College (HR distance at most college fields), confident setup in the box, busy load with some swing and miss but can really drive the ball. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot, works quickly, quick arm, sound delivery, good leg drive to the plate, attacks hitters and fills up the strike zone, fastball has life. Good student.
