J.D. Hunter is a 2009 second baseman from Iowa City, Iowa, with a 5'4", 130 lb. frame. Hunter showed very good defensive actions with quick feet and soft hands. He is very advanced for his age defensively, and shows good range as well. His arm plays better at second base currently, but that may change as he matures and adds strength. He looks very comfortable in the batter's box. Hunter hits from a slightly open stance, and has a nice line drive swing plane. Hunter has solid bat speed and he uses the whole field. Hunter has all of the instincts and tools to be a very good player. He just needs time to get bigger and stronger.
