William Helmick is a 6'3/225 2006 RHP/1B from Miami, FL. He is a very strong athlete with an especially well developed lower half. He throws from a low ¾’s release point and will occasionally drop down even lower. Helmick’s fastball was in the 75-78 mph range with some good running and sinking action. Helmick’s curveball needs some work for him to move up to the highest levels. He threw it 58-60 mph and noticeably slowed his arm on the pitch. Helmick showed some good raw power during batting practice but didn’t repeat it against live pitching. He could be really dangerous with a metal bat in his hand with his strength and pull aggressiveness. Could have a future as a power hitting 1B. William is a good student.
