2015 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Derek Kasperzyk is a 2016 SS/OF with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Killingworth, CT who attends Avon Old Farms. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength with additional room to fill out. Quick-twitch, ran a 6.59 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, shorter arm action in the infield with a lower slot release, generates some extension out front and comes out cleanly with sound overall athletic action. Takes short and quick steps in outfield, good reads off the bat, fields out front with a full arm action through the back and longer release, shows accuracy to the bag with nice present strength from quick arm action. Right-handed hitter, starts with a simple and balanced stance and shifts weight well through lower half. Shows nice bat speed coming through the zone with live drive contact off the barrel and occasional loft. Aggressive approach in the box, shows a feel for the barrel head with consistent contact to pull side. Named to Northeast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
