2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Blake is a 6-1, 185 lb left handed first baseman from North Carolina with square shoulders and developing strength. He showed smooth fielding actions and a good arm stroke during infield but didn't show the ability to really accelerate his body. Blake ran the 60 in 8.42 and threw 69 mph during infield. At the plate, Blake has an easy swing with an inside out bat path from a wide stance. He doesn't have the strength right now to drive the ball with wood but made consistent contact, mostly to the left side of the field. Blake also pitched and showed the same type of actions. His arm works well but he doesn't clear his hips at all and he ends up with a 66-70 mph fastball that he'll both turn over and cut at different times. Blake is an excellent student.
