Austin Haws is a 2006 MIF/OF from American Fork HS in Utah with a 5'10", 165 lb. frame. Haws ran a 7.28 sixty on a very slow track, and he showed good speed in the games and ran the bases well. Offensively he hits from a crouched stance and stays balanced throughout his swing. Haws shows very good bat speed with a line drive swing path. He makes adjustments with his hands and stays inside the ball well, and makes solid contact. Defensively he has a quick arm with solid arm strength (79IF) from the middle infield spots. Haws shows good hands, but is a bit choppy with his feet getting to balls-he makes all the plays though. He showed great balance and reactions when he turned a double play at second base on a poor throw from the third baseman. Haws has a solid skill set with athleticism and should continue to improve. He is also an outstanding student.
