Matt Major is a 2006 catcher from Evansville, Indiana, with a strong, athletic build at 6'1", 185 pounds. He moves well both ways behind the plate, with quick feet and good balance, and he popped 1.96-2.15 with a strong arm(73mph). He receives the ball with soft hands, has a good knowledge of the position, and handles pitchers well. At the plate he hits from a balanced position with a quick inside out swing. He has a good feel for how to hit, and when he attacks, he is a solid line drive hitter showing power to all fields. He showed good athleticism for a catcher with a 7.38 in the 60, and 4.73 home to first. Matt is a tough, smart player, with room to get stronger, and he will be a top prospect in 2006. He is an excellent student.
