2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Lamar Milstead is a 5'11/165 2005 OF from Dripping Springs, TX. Milstead was a late addition to the showcase roster, but quickly got everyone’s attention. He has a tightly wound athletic body with very good body life. Milstead took one of the best batting practices of any player at the showcase. He has a high knee lift, long stride and big load that really comes together to create bat speed and a good swing plane. Milstead hit some lasers in BP and showed some loft power potential. It’s a full effort approach that can bring some rewards. Milstead’s 7.26-60 time was a little deceiving, as he ran in the 4.3 range to first base despite his big swing and showed good quickness on the bases as well. This is a nice young left handed hitting outfielder with some good tools. Lamar is a good student.
