Josh Lyons is a 2006 LHP/1B from Indian Rocks Christian High School in Largo, Florida, with a 5'9'', 178 lb. frame. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a balanced delivery, but throws across his body slightly. Lyons showed pitchability and solid control of his pitches as he mixed in a 77 mph fastball and a 68 mph curveball. His curveball is his best pitch and he throws it for strikes. He gets outs with his curveball and he throws it with a 1 to 7 break. Lyons gets some arm side life on his fastball, and he works the pitch down and in on right handed hitters keeping the pitch out of the center of the plate. Defensively he has good hands and made some nice plays at first base. At the plate he is a switch hitter with a short stride and a line drive swing plane. Lyons has solid bat speed and gets leverage at the point of contact.
