2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Jason is a 2005 grad from Desert Christian High School in the Palmdale, California area. He has a large lean frame at 6'4" and 185 lbs. He has long arms and legs with a lot of room to add strength. Defensively, Jason showed some good arm strength from right field. Despite a well below average 60 time he ran good routes and was able to run down some balls in the outfield. At the plate, Jason's size and strength potential make him very interesting. He will benefit from the additional confidence that being stronger will give him and attack balls in the strike zone more aggressively. On the mound, Jason threw from a low 3/4's arm slot with fair mechanics. He had a 77-80 mph fastball with some tailing action down in the zone and a good feel for the change up. Jason did a good job of competing and keeping the ball down. Keep an eye on him, he projects nicely. Jason is a good student.
