Nottingham needs to be followed like a hawk right up until the June draft. He's a big strong lefty with athleticism. His arm works very well and it's a real quick arm out of a 3/4 slot. In Ft Myers he was showing mid season velocity up to 91mph on the (Stalker). Even more important is that the 91 showed excellent sinking action. His breaking ball was real good at times in the 73-77 range. It should end up being a plus MLB pitch. He also featured a potential big time changeup around 77 mph. Perhaps the only negative is that he did slow up a bit to throw the change. He showed a great feel for all the pitches. He did lack a little consistency, but it was early January and he was facing some of the top hitters in the country. His stuff could dominate at the next level. If you took his best 10 pitches in Ft Myers you have an easy top 5 rounder, maybe higher. This kid has a great future in college or pro ball. If he tacks a couple mphs on that fastball by this Spring, watch out!
