2006 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Chad Nielsen is a 2007 RHP/3B from Chelsea HS in Chelsea, MI with a 6'0", 170 lb. frame. Chad has an athletic build and showed good arm strength topping out at 84 on the mound. His stuff on the mound was very live with good run on his fastball. He showed good command of all pitches and featured a sharp breaking CB and a nice straight CH. Mechanically Chad was fairly solid, but he is somewhat of a max effort pitcher at this point. At the plate Chad made solid contact with a swing that is a little inside-out. He drove the ball consistently hard to right centerfield. Chad looks like a player that could be playing at a small to mid-level Division I College next year.
