2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
RHP-3B Chad Bildstein: Bildstein is a junior from Iowa who both pitches and plays third base. At third base he showed soft hands on defense and some carry on his throws across the diamond. Bildstein is a strong young man with good upper body development and generates some bat speed at the plate. He has power potential against mediocre pitching but a big hand hitch is going to give him trouble against the top level hard stuff. Bildstein threw a couple of innings at the Showcase and was steady in the upper 70’s with his fastball. He threw two different breaking balls, a slider/cut fastball at 75-76 mph and a curveball at 68-69 mph.
