Jonathan Mitchell is a 2009 OF/P/2B with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame from Alpharetta, GA, who attends Alpharetta HS. Mitchell is a young prospect with an athletic frame and projection. Defensively he moves well in the outfield and does a great job coming through the ball. Mitchell has very good arm strength for his age with good arm speed. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a closed stance and a narrow base. He is a line drive hitter with a compact swing, and does a good job hitting to the opposite field. Mitchell is also a patient hitter who does not chase bad pitches. He projects as a good number 2 hitter with bat head skills. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed. He throws from the stretch with a balanced and online delivery. His fastball topped out at 80 mph, and he mixed in a 64 mph curveball with 11/5 break. He battles on the mound, and has projectable velocity.
