Buckner is a 6-2, 170 senior right handed pitcher from Texas. He has a complex, multi-part delivery, with lots of extra upper body movement and forward drift to the plate, that is likely keeping him from reaching his peak velocity at present along with affecting his command. Buckner topped out at 81 mph during his four innings of work and pitched mostly at 78 mph. He threw two types of breaking ball, a 70 mph twisted slider and a big breaking 62 mph curveball, both with some effectiveness. Buckner also threw a 69 mph change up. Buckner is also a good athlete who showed 83 mph arm strength during infield drills and swung the bat aggressively with some bat speed. With some adjustments to his mechanics he should continue to improve as a pitcher.
