2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Kyle Stryker is a 6-0, 200 lb senior first baseman from Canada with well above average present strength. He's a 7.48 runner who threw 78 mph during infield drills. He shows some agility around the bag at first and has played some third base in the past. Stryker hits out of a closed stance with a fast, line drive swing. He has an opposite field/up the middle approach, which is unusual to see in a young hitter with Stryker's type of strength. His swing fundamentals are very good and he made consistent hard contact while staying balanced and under control. Stryker had 4 hits in the 2 showcase games and looked very confident and sure of himself at the plate. He will need to open up his swing some to show the raw power potential that he has but for now he is a nice looking young hitter who can be consistently productive.
