2015 National Underclass South Showcase
Saul R Garza is a 2017 C/1B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Linn, TX who attends Edinburg North HS. Extra large frame, sturdy build with good present strength and physicality. Right handed hitter, slightly open stance with hands at the shoulders in setup. Aggressive approach, strength shows up well in swing. Generally stays inside the ball with hands, but flashes occasional extension, has solid feel for the barrel and works well to the middle of the field. Projects well at the plate, easy to see more power coming. Primary catcher, good low set in crouch, receives well out in front. Shows solid exchange and transfer, gets on top of the ball with solid arm strength, popped as low as 1.94 seconds in defensive drills. Also worked out at first base, bends well and moves solidly to either side for his size, ball comes out of hand cleanly. Named tot the National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List. Excellent student.
