Matthew Harnish is a 2016 SS with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Murfreesboro, TN who attends Blackman HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength with room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, short compact swing with a very good path to the ball and some hand quickness, squares the ball up consistently, has a bit of lift and extension out front for gap power, strong enough to top spin the ball, projects as a hitter. Quick out of the box and fast and aggressive on the bases, plays faster than his 60 speed. Good footwork on defense, moves well laterally, quick first step, accurate throws with developing arm strength. Also pitched, fastball up to 80 mph with some arm side run, 3/4's arm slot, soft curveball, threw strikes and pitched to contact. Nice young player who should keep improving.
