Matthew Reyes is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'1'', 210 lb. frame from Santa Ana, CA, who attends Foothill HS. Reyes has a nice pitcher's body with an extra large frame and present strength. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with solid arm action. Reyes throws across his body causing him to fall to the first base side. He throws a crossfire fastball that runs away from RHH at 85 mph while working in the 81-85 mph range. He also mixes in a 73 mph late breaking curveball with occasional snap at the end. Reyes also throws a 75 mph straight changeup. He didn't get any help from his defense, but he pitched through it with poise. He did not allow an earned run in his 3 IP, while striking out 4. At the plate he hits from a slightly open to straight away stance. He is an aggressive hitter with bat speed through the zone. The ball jumps off his bat and he throws the bat head well. Reyes gets good leverage at the point of contact, and has good extension. Two-way prospect that needs to be followed.
