Abreu is a slender 6-1 sophomore pitcher from Miami. He has a whole lot of the things that you are looking for in a young pitcher and is a very good bet to continue to improve if he works hard at his game. Abreu is broad shouldered and narrow waisted. He throws from a good, on-line delivery with a smooth arm arch and an extended ¾ arm slot. Abreu’s fastball was mostly 77-78 mph and he showed some aptitude in working the ball in and out. He also showed some feel for a 69 mph curveball with a big, deep break and a 69 mph change up. All the ingredients are there for Abreu to develop into a solid pitching prospect. Keep an eye on him. Abreu is also a good student.
