2004 Sunshine East Showcase
Nathan Rakay is a 2006 MIF from Sarasota, FL. Rakay is a slender infielder with good athletic actions and plenty of projection to his frame. He looks stronger than his listed 152 lbs. right now and should continue to get stronger. Rakay’s hands and feet play well in the middle of the field and his overall speed and arm strength should improve with physical maturity. Rakay’s approach at the plate isn’t conducive to hitting with wood and he probably hasn’t swung wood very much, so it may be premature to judge his hitting ability. He jams himself consistently with a hands to the ball approach that doesn’t get the bat head to the ball. Check back in the future as he gets more accustom to the wood bat. Rakay isn’t usually a pitcher, but did take the mound in Fort Myers and threw strikes with a 76-77 mph fastball. Nathan is a good student.
