2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
OF Mike Wilding: Wilding is a junior outfielder from Wisconsin with good overall athletic ability and some strength for his size. He ran and threw well during the Showcase drills and had one of the quickest, most fundamentally sound releases of any of the Showcase outfielders. During batting practice, Wilding showed some power potential to left centerfield and the ball came off his bat with authority. Wilding does collapse his back side during his swing and cuts off his swing and he could add even more power if he’s able to make some adjustments. He also made good contact against live pitching.
