Schelstrate is a big strong first baseman who provides a lot of punch in his bat. He doesn't necessarily have a fast bat, but he can hit the ball hard and far. His swing is a good one too, with quick hands and centering the ball well. The majority of his hits were driven to the opposite gap and all of them carried well. He lacks the mobility and arm strength at first base to compliment his hitting ability and will benefit from weight training and conditioning. He does not have good footspeed, but is the type of power hitter that does not rely much on digging out ground balls. If he improves his athleticism and continues working on his strengths (power bat) he will increase the interest surrounding him. Good student.
