Deavers is a tall and wiry 6-3 senior pitcher from Florida with extra long arms. He has a smooth arm action with a low 3/4's release point and a low elbow in his forward arm stroke. Deavers has some effort on his release that doesn't seem to effect his command and control. Deaver's fastball topped out at 78 mph in Fort Myers and his smooth arm action and projectable body should enable him to add a couple of miles per hour in velocity. Deaver's breaking ball was a sweeping 65 mph curveball that would improve with more downward action. He also threw a 71 mph change up. Deavers is an excellent student off the field who should keep improving as a pitcher with hard work.
