2003 Spring Showcase
At 6 foot 3 and 165 pounds, Brostowitz is all about projection. He is a thin first-baseman who has decent running mechanics but not enough strength to shave his time down below the 7.77 that he ran. He also showed a good arm action but not enough arm speed to reach above 72 mph velocity. He fields his position well and can make the pick out of the dirt. At the plate he showed a short-to-the-ball swing but lacked the use of his lower half. There is a lot more in him and we expect that he will make strength gains when he adds weight. When he does fill out we expect he will show strides in just about every area.
