A J Carman is a 2009 RHP/3B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Bountiful, UT who attends Judge Memorial. Carman has a big frame with a thick build. He has some present strength with some room to fill. Carman pitches from a 3/4 slot with a shorter arm action. He has arm speed and his arm works ok. Carman's mechanics are a bit jerky but can be smoothed out. He has good life on FB and he has down plane on it. Carman throws a tight 12/6 curveball with good downer action on it. He also throws a late breaking 10/4 - 11/5 slider. He also throws a change up with good sink and armside run on it. Everything Carman throws moves late and sharp. Both his breaking pitches are good strike out pitches. He throws 4 pitches for strikes and has good command. Carman has good stuff and has projectable velocity. Defensively, Carman has average defensive actions and his feet work. At the plate, Carman starts with a straight stance and maintains balance through his swing. He gets good extension in his swing and is aggressive. Carman is also a very good student.
