Jacob Shaffer is a 2007 OF/RHP with a 5'10'', 170 lb. frame from Vandergrift PA, who attends Kiski Area HS. He has a lean athletic build and live actions. Shaffer ran the 60 9n a quick 6.87 and threw well during outfield drills at 83 mph. He showed good quickness and balance going to balls in the outfield and had very good carry on his throws, although he could speed up his release. He looks like a very good defensive outfielder overall. Offensively, Shaffer hits from a tall stance with a long stride and a full effort aggressive swing. He has a power hitters approach, although not a power hitter's body and long levers. Shaffer has raw bat speed but his front side is flying open early and hard and that effects his ability to make consistent solid contact. He has the hitting tools to develop in the future. Shaffer is a good student off the field.
