Jeremy Howard is a 2008 C with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from San Jose, CA who attends Valley Christian HS. He has an average frame and a lean, athletic build that projects to get stronger. Howard is a good player who plays hard. He is not just a solid switch-hitting catcher but a good athlete that likely also can play other positions. Watching Howard in just one game is not enough to gain a full appreciation of his ability as an all-around player. Offensively he has a good LH swing, with good bat control. It was impressive to see him go aggressively to the pull side but to also bang the ball to left field when he was pitched away. Howard's RH swing has some whippy life and he swings it aggressively. He has bat speed on both sides and hits to all fields with line drive gap power. Defensively Howard is solid too. He is an athletic catcher and plays with energy. His catch/throw transfer is solid and his pop times will improve with a good catching coach. He also has good block/control and receiving skills. His defensive abilities are really coachable and with the right catching coach Howard could become an above average defensive catcher.
