Andrew Sterling is a 2008 OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Houston Episcopal. Andrew is a very athletic player with a slender frame and broad shoulders for a player his size. He has room to add to his frame. He looked great during the outfield portion of the workout, with a top velocity of 87 mph on his throw. He is aggressive to the ball and takes himself to and through it. He gets all of his body into his throw, and has good arm speed to go with his excellent mechanics. He has a very quick and clean exchange and does a good job getting the ball out. At the plate he hits from an open stance, and he stays open. He is a contact type hitter who shows bat speed, and gets out of the box very fast. He starts with a high back elbow, and he gets long at times. He uses a toe tap trigger to start his swing. Andrew is a good student.
