Tony York is a 2008 OF/P with a 6'1'', 155 lb. frame from Escondido, CA, who attends Escondido HS. York has a lean and projectable frame. Defensively he has very good arm speed and arm strength from the outfield throwing 87 mph with a nice release and solid carry. He covers ground showing good reads off the bat. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a closed stance with a wider base. York battles at the plate, and he is aggressive. He keeps his hands inside the ball, and he shows bat speed through the zone. York has nice hands in his swing with the ability to make adjustments, and he has projectable power. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm. He has nice mechanics with a low effort delivery. He gets occasional arm side run on his fastball that topped out at 83 mph. York also mixes in a 71 mph curveball with depth, and a 68 mph change. He throws strikes, and he has upside on the mound. York is a two-way prospect, and is a must follow.
