LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2003 World Showcase
We have seen Maragas a few times before. He's a very strong, physically developed catcher with some arm strength and receiving ability. He's a good athlete who even runs good for a catcher. He's a tough kid who plays hard and plays smart. In Ft Myers he showed us the hitting ability he had only flashed before. During BP he looked OK, showing power potential. We think he was trying too hard and maybe squeezing a bit early. In the games he was as good as any hitter in Ft Myers this year. He hit good pitching all over the field. We don't keep track of statistics, but he was 4 for 4 in one game and hit well in all the games. These hits were far from the lucky blooper catagory, he hit the ball hard for extra bases. He has outstanding power potential and seems to make consistent solid contact. If he does this in the Spring, no reason to think he won't, he could be a nice draft pick. There's not a lot of physical projection because he is MLB strong right now.
