William "Scott" Goins is a 2011 RHP/1B with a 6-6 225 lb. frame from Jonestown, TX. Older player, tall, angular build, strong with plenty of room to get stronger. Works from stretch, short, quick and deep arm action in back, 3/4's arm slot, tends to drift through balance point and rush arm, some effort on release. Fastball topped at 82 mph, lots of variance on velocity, short breaking slider at 74 mph, throws split type change in mid 70's, inconsistent command/release point due to mechanics, can improve with adjustments. Right handed hitter, straight stance, opens early on swing, long and strong swing, has power potential when ball squared up. Good student.
