Wheeler is an attractive player with smooth actions and a good arm. He is a 6 foot 1 shortstop that has nice quick hands, a smooth swing and some power. He showed very solid defensive ability with the glove, he plays the game very well. . At the plate he hit the ball hard, showing bat-speed and lift on the ball. His hitting approach is a good one. On the hill he showed a low 3/4 almost sidearm slot with a quick snap to home plate. His fastball was 80-83 mph and he has a 67 mph change along with a soft curve. He probably projects best at 3B because his running ability is not SS caliber. He would be an outstanding 3B and can help on the mound too. B.J. is a good student.
