Anthony Bona is a 2008 catcher with a 5'9'', 170 lb. frame from Union City CA, who attends James Logan HS. He has a strong, compact, somewhat physical build. Though he was listed as a switch-hitter, he only swung the bat from the right side. Bona is a catcher that brings offense to the position. His bat would be a positive no matter what position he plays. He is an aggressive hitter, but with a discerning eye for the zone. The ball jumps off his bat with an easy swing, providing good present day power to all fields. He has good bat speed, is short to the ball, and drives through contact, suggesting that he can hit for some average and power. Defensively Bona is a solid catcher, with strong hands and a good arm. He blocks well and works hard, bringing a level of toughness to the field. His pop times are competitive and can still improve.
