Orlando Diaz Mercado is a 2013 LHP with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Toa Baja, PR who attends Dr Pedro Albizu Campo HS. Slender square shouldered build. Rotational delivery with big leg raise, some drop and drive, accelerates to the plate, extended 3/4's arm slot, could benefit from maintaining height and leverage. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 79 mph, primary fastball pitcher, mostly straight but throws fastball to spots and works quickly. Mixes in occasional short slider with some bite and depth, rare change up. Competes and throws strikes.
