Kyle Cross is a 2008 1B/P with a 5'10'', 175 lb. frame from Palmetto FL, who attends St Stephen's Episcopal HS. His older brother Dalton was also at the Showcase. Cross has a medium build and a loose, flexible body. He hits from a wide stance with a big back wrap in back and would benefit from getting his bat off his back shoulder. Cross has quick hands and showed the ability to make bat head adjustments in his swing and center the ball, so getting his bat in better position to hit is important. Cross should get stronger and he shows the potential to add some power as he matures. Cross was impressive defensively at first base. He has strong fundamentals with his glove and feet and his flexiblity enables him to stretch well for throws. Cross also pitched, throwing 73 mph with a long, loose arm action and a pretty good 58 mph knuckleball. He is a good student.
