Cody Hankins is a 2008 catcher/infielder/right handed pitcher from Coggon, Iowa, with a 5'9", 167 lb. frame. He has a quick arm with solid footwork in the infield. He showed good range, and is a solid fielder. He also showed good footwork behind the plate blocking balls, and on throws to second base. Offensively, Hankins has a line drive swing plane from a high back elbow starting point. He has a balanced swing, but his top hand is dominant and he rolls over some pitches. Hankins' hands are very busy at the plate. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Hankins showed solid command of a 69 mph fastball, and did not show an off-speed pitch. Hankins will be a solid defensive player with a projectable bat. He is also a good student.
