Brent Tamane is a 5-9, 150 lb senior left handed hitting second baseman from Canada. He's a scrappy, hustling player who knows how to play the game and helps teams win. Tamane's defense was very solid at second base. He showed better game arm strength than he showed in drills, along with a very quick release on his throws. He moved very well to his right and made several very good plays while moving in both directions. He seemed a bit tentative on the routine plays but improved his actions and execution the faster he had to play, which is a good sign as the game speeds up. Tamane also played some third base and showed the same type of solid defensive skills at that position as well. At the plate, Tamane has a quick line drive swing and some strength in his hands and wrists. He has an inside out approach and the ball jumps off his bat well enough to get out into the left centerfield gap. Overall, Tamane is a solid all around player who is going to help his teams win in any possible way and and be a manager's favorite. He plays above his physical tools.
