Jason Rodriguez is a 2009 OF with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame from Cooper City FL, who attends Cooper City HS. He has a lean, athletic build with good strength projection. Rodriguez showed good potential with the bat, especially when he got in games against live pitching. He has quick hands and good bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat hard. His load is quiet and deep and he attacks the ball aggressively with a level line drive swing. Rodriguez showed very good baserunning ability, speed and instincts once he reached base. He looks like a quick twitch type of athlete whose aggressiveness will be an asset. Defensively, Rodriguez has good fundamentals and got good reads on balls. He has good arm strength now and should continue to improve as he gets older. He ran the 60 in 7.12 but watching him on the bases and in the outfield he looks like he has better game speed than that. Rodriguez is a good young player who has a chance to develop. He is also a good student.
