2006 California Underclass
Scott Webster is a 2006 OF/RHP from Gleneagle Secondary HS, residing in Coquitlam, British Columbia, with a 6'6" 220 lb. frame. Has a large frame and a power build. Webster is very physical with strong legs and certainly takes up space whether in the box or on the mound. Offensively he has an aggressive swing and he understands the strike zone. Better yet, Webster knows what he wants to hit. He has excellent bat speed and showed the ability to make consistently hard contact. He was the rare hitter that was better in games than during BP. He handles the wood bat very well and looks like a middle of the order presence... sort of big and physical like Travis Hafner. Defensively he has an above average arm and decent hands in the OF. The arm is a legitimate RF arm but he has LF tools, including speed and range. On the mound he pitches from a 3/4 slot and has that power body. He could throw 90 mph on a consistent basis if he stayed closed. He was 87 mph in his warm-ups but was not above that in the game. His arm works and his FB runs. He throws a sharp CB in terms of shape but not for many strikes. Mechanically he flies open and generally have very raw mechanics. Webster has a draftable bat and is a project on the mound.
