DeFeo is a very young sophomore right handed pitcher with a very, very projectable 6-5 frame. He has long arms and legs, huge hands and showed us in batting practice that he has some present strength as well. On the mound, DeFeo throws from a tall, downhill delivery with a short arm stroke in back. His fastball was 75-78 mph with good sinking life to accompany his downhill plane. DeFeo also threw a 65 mph curveball and 68 mph changeup. He looks like a pitcher who is going to keep improving as he gets stronger and gains more experience. DeFeo’s bat intrigued us, too. He had a nice balanced swing and the ball jumped off his bat well. He didn’t loft the ball but his line drives carried a long way. He could develop into a nice power hitter down the road. DeFeo is a good student.
