2004 Sunshine East Showcase
Brandon Laine is a 2005 RHP from Ft. Myers, FL. He is a 5'10" right handed pitcher with a lean body, who cruised through his three innings of work at the Showcase, retiring all nine hitters in order. Laine has good mound presence and a good idea of how to throw strikes and work the zone. His fastball topped out at 83 mph with good late life on occasion and Laine used this pitch aggressively early in counts. Laine’s curveball was 62-66 mph with a sweeping 10-4 break. He also showed some cutting action on some fastballs and it was impressive. Laine looks like a good pitcher with polish and late fastball life. He will pitch and should do well at the next level.
