Tate Samuelson is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Serra HS. Large frame with highly athletic, strong build; body projects well moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.03 seconds. Sets up to hit from square, even stance; easy and simple swing mechanics, strong hands with plenty of bat speed, good power to both gaps and future legitimate HR power as well. Shifts into contact well, showed well in both batting practice and game action. Good footwork in the infield, range to both sides, very polished defender, quality arm strength across the diamond up to 86 MPH. Extremely impressive on the mound, long and loose arm action, full through the back with clean acceleration to high 3/4 arm slot, lots of sink on FB at bottom of the zone, FB worked 84-87 MPH. Slider shows good depth with sweeping break; showed changeup as well with very good deception and arm speed, pounded the bottom of the zone. Named to 2016 Sunshine West Top Prospect List. Verbally committed to Cal Poly, very good student.
