Trey Pilkington is a 2009 RHP/IF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Anniston, AL who attends Oxford HS. He has a lean, athletic build and projectable strength. Pilkington has a rotational delivery with a quick, short deceptive arm action and some effort on release. His fastball was steady at 85-86 mph and it looked harder to the hitters, who took some late, weak hacks at it. Pilkington pitched around the plate with his fastball and was aggressive challenging hitters. His curveball had good velocity at 74 mph but he was frequently throwing through the break and needs to develop better feel for the pitch. He also mixed in a couple of change ups. Pilkington has a weapon already in his fastball and should continue to improve across the board. He also showed some bat speed as a hitter and made solid contact to the middle of the field.
