2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Matthew Nusbaum is a 2009 C/3B/OF with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends Green Hope HS. He is a very young player for a 2009 prospect but has some present strength on a medium frame. Nussbaum was a high energy catcher who received and blocked the ball very well and showed some leadership behind the plate. He has some recoil/directional problems in his throwing that limit his arm strength/pop times but he made accurate throws and can improve his fundamentals with some work. Offensively, Nusbaum used his strength well and stayed short to the ball and made solid line drive contact. He tends to pull up and off the ball and could extend better through contact. It is important to remember Nusbaum should be a 2010 player; he does a number of things well and should keep improving. He is also a good student.
